Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from my sessions?

Sessions last fifty minutes and are generally offered on a weekly basis either face to face or online (UK residents only). Sessions would normally be offered at the same time every week however some counsellors may be able to accommodate fortnightly or flexible sessions.

If you need flexible sessions or sessions that are not weekly, please indicate this on the contact form or let us know over the phone so that we can match you to the right counsellor.

During your first session, your counsellor will want to gather some details about your situation and goals for therapy. They will also go through the counselling contract with you and any other paperwork they may need you to sign. This is a great opportunity for you to ask your counsellor any questions you may have and outline in greater detail what you are looking for from therapy.

  • How much will it cost?

We know that seeking therapy can be very costly. At Bargate Wellbeing, we want to make it as affordable as possible for as many people as we can, which is why we offer three payment options:

Option 1: Fee £30 per session. This is our reduced fee option aimed at students and those on low incomes. Your therapist will be in their final stages of their counselling training.

Option 2: Fee £50 per session. Your therapist will be fully qualified, insured and registered with a profession body.

Option 3: Fee £65 per session. Your counsellor will be an experienced counsellor with a minimum of four years experience or holding a senior accreditation or a psychotherapist qualified to at least Level 7.

  • How many sessions can I have?

This will up to you and your counsellor to decide. Many of our counsellors work with 'open-ended' contracts. This means you can have as many or as few sessions as you and your counsellor feel you need. In some circumstances however you may require a fixed number of sessions. This may be due to financial restrictions or because you want to work in a time limited way on a specific problem. Your counsellor can discuss this with you during your initial session.

  • Can I book evening and weekend sessions?

Again, this varies from counsellor to counsellor. If you require evening or weekend sessions, please make sure that you indicate this on the contact form or let us know over the phone so that we can match you to the right counsellor.

  • Do you accept healthcare insurance?

This will depend on whether your counsellor is able to take insurance clients. If you would like to pay via your insurance, please indicate this on the contact form or let us know over the phone so that we can match you with a counsellor who can facilitate this.

Ready to take the next step?

You do not need to know which counsellor you want to see yet. Start by telling us a little about what you are looking for, and we will guide you from there.
